Our Story

ProSEIT is building the professional spotlight that software and IT practice has long deserved.

From the shadows to the spotlight

For years, software engineers and IT practitioners have helped power institutions, businesses, public services, and innovation across Uganda and beyond, yet much of that work has remained under-recognized. The people building systems, securing platforms, solving operational problems, and driving digital transformation have often worked without the professional visibility, standards culture, and collective voice that their contribution deserves. ProSEIT was born out of that gap: a conviction that the profession needed to step out of the shadows and into its rightful place as a respected force in national development, trusted digital practice, and industry transformation.

Our journey began with a simple but powerful idea: software and IT practice should not be treated as invisible technical support alone. It should be recognised as a profession shaped by competence, ethics, accountability, growth, and impact. ProSEIT was therefore established to create a credible professional home for students, practitioners, corporate actors, researchers, and partners who believe that strong digital systems require not only skill, but also standards, professionalism, and a culture of continuous development.

Today, ProSEIT is growing into a structured ecosystem for professional identity, training, certification, standards, research, innovation, consultancy, partnerships, and industry engagement. We are building pathways that help members grow, help organisations access credible talent and support, and help the wider ecosystem take software professionalism more seriously. We are also shaping platforms through which useful, credible, and professionally grounded digital solutions can gain visibility, validation, and influence.

From the shadows to the spotlight is therefore more than a phrase for us. It is our purpose. It reflects our commitment to elevating the people, practices, and ideas that will shape trusted digital transformation in Uganda and the region. ProSEIT exists to ensure that software and IT professionals are not only seen, but respected; not only included, but heard; and not only active in the ecosystem, but central to its future.
